Biography
Gavin George (b. 1975, Vancouver, Canada) received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from York University, Toronto, Canada in 1999 and his MFA from Yale University, New Haven, USA in 2002.
George makes photographic work using film. His works are an investigation into representations of concrete situations, depictions and ideas that can only be realized in photography. By emphasizing aesthetics, he creates work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found.
He has exhibited internationally at Andrea Sorolla Gallery in London, UK; the Dutch Photography Museum in Amsterdam, NL; Belvedere Contemporary Gallery in Vienna, AT and The Rosen Contemporary Art Museum in Boston, USA.
George currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
